In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, players around the NBA rocked various Black History Month-inspired colorways of some of Nike's most popular silhouettes. Along with previously revealed signatures like the Kyrie 4, LeBron 15, and KD 10, a never-before-seen pair of the LeBron Soldier 11 was also present on the court.
Among the players wearing the LeBron model were Atlanta Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon and Milwaukee Bucks point guard Eric Bledsoe. Like the other BHM kicks, this pair sports a black, green, and red colorway inspired by the Pan-African flag with gold accents. More specifically, this Soldier 11 had an all-black upper, green, red, and black-striped ankle strap, and gold Swoosh branding.
This pair also had its own special date like the rest of the BHM sneakers. The golden date seen on the side of this pair was "11-4-2008," a reference to the date that Barack Obama was elected as the first black President of the United States.
Although a handful of BHM sneakers were released by Nike today, the second half of the collection will be releasing on Feb. 1 at nike.com and other select retailers. It will include the Air VaporMax, Air Force 1 High, Air Jordan 1 Flyknit.
