One of the more refreshing aspects of life, of course including sneakers, is being put on to new things. With that, it is often times liberating to take advantage of the previously unexplored, spice things up accordingly, and steer away from routines from time to time.
On the footwear side of things, you certainly have given silhouettes that will always be near and dear to your heart —and rightfully so— but we're here today to take a look and give some shine to the lesser known models within footwear that you may have overlooked.
Now we can't take sole (pun intended) credit for the idea behind this piece, as we pulled inspiration from our good friends over at Pigeons and Planes and their recent feature on music recommendations. Here putting our own appropriated spin on it, however, we're bringing you sneakers that we think you'll like based on kicks that you already do enjoy.
The hype surrounding these lesser-known entries will probably never match that of their counterpart, but if you're looking to give something new a try, well, we think this will help. Fans of the Vans Half Cab should try the HUF HUF 1 Vulc.
If you're using the legendary Half Cab sneaks from Vans the right way, you're getting some significant boarding in. The same goes for the HUF 1 from the fellow California brand. The heights on these two silhouettes are pretty similar as well as the skate-friendly vulcanized soles. The Half Cab isn't necessarily an expensive shoe, but if you're looking to switch things up from time to time, we say try the HUF 1 from HUF.
Fans of the adidas ZX 700 should try The Hundreds Hoya.
While you probably don't automatically think of running sneakers when The Hundreds brand is mentioned, you're probably not getting a workout in while wearing some adidas ZX 700s anymore either. No shots, either way. Both kicks are now utilized more fore street style, and you can't go wrong with the classic Three Stripes pair or The Hoya from the California outlet. Somewhat similar build? Yeah, we think so. Why not give 'em a try?

Fans of the Air Jordan II should try the Diamond Supply Co. Marquise.
Okay, okay. Just hear us out, or actually just look at the visual comparison. We don't exactly expect you to hit the hardwood and attempt to take flight in the Marquise from Diamond Supply, but when it comes to the aesthetic, the look is at least loosely similar. Hey, we wouldn't be mad if you laced up some IIs, grabbed your board and hit the streets, either. We say give the mid-top Diamond Supply drop a try, though. You may like what you find out.

Fans of the Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski should try the Lakai Griffin.
Enjoy skating? Then you can't really go wrong with either of these options. And while the ever-popular Zoom Stefan Janoski from Nike SB is both a board and street favorite, the Lakai Griffin is also skate-ready and pretty stylish, too. Oh, and your wallet won't be mad at the switc-hup either. So what are you waiting for?

Fans of the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Ox should try the Greats Brand The Wilson.
Clear design inspiration was pulled from the iconic Chuck Taylor while the Greats Brand fellas were whippin' up their new Wilson model. A clean canvas look with a complementary midsole and matching toe cap — yeah, should look and sound familiar. We'd never tell you to rid yourself of your Chucks, but add The Wilson to your arsenal as well. You won't be disappointed.

Fans of the New Balance 420 should try the CLAE Mills.
Sure, the Mills model from lifestyle brand CLAE is a more mature, casual option, but have you never seen the New Balance 420 dressed up, too? Either way, the trim on these is undeniably similar, especially the sleek and low-cut technique. We say gets some additional casual cool from the CLAE brand.

Fans of the Nike Air Trainer SC II should try the Under Armour Micro G Gridiron.
Eager to hit the weight room or playing field, you can definitely do so in both of these performance-minded options. The Micro G Gridiron from Under Amour and the Air Trainer SC II from the Swoosh each make good use of a midfoot strap as well as a heightened design. While the Nike offering may be a bit more stylish for the streets, you really can't go wrong either way here, especially while training.
Fans of the Air Jordan 1 should try the Pony City Wings.
Yes, these two have been compared before, and while we'd never really belittle the iconic nature and legendary status of the Air Jordan 1, the Pony City Wings are pretty classic in their own right. With similar height requirements and of course mirrored color combos here, why not switch things up a bit? Either way, you're still going with a classic look. It's not like MJ needs you to buy the same shoes again, anyway.

Fans of the K-Swiss Classic should try the Supra Owen.
Okay, so one is (or was) for tennis and other other is for running, but look at that similar lacing system. The five stripes is of course synonymous with the K-Swiss brand, especially on the Classic, but Supra also pays homage with the same number of lace-stays on its first-ever runner, the Owen. And if you get the right colorway, you can go casual with the Owen, just like the heralded Classic from K-Swiss. No?

Fans of the Nike SB Eric Koston One should try the etnies Marana.
The newcomer from etnies, the Marana, is gradually becoming a more popular play within skate circles, in large part due to the endorsement from signature boarder Ryan Sheckler. He hasn't reached Koston status yet, but if you're looking for an alternative for the Lunarlon-featured Koston One sneaker from Nike SB, we say take a chance on the newer Marana model. Your session will be blessed either way. Oh, and both look pretty good, we must say.

Fans of the Vans Authentic should try the Supra Wrap.
So we know what you're thinking, about 97 companies have their variation of the Vans Authentic. While that may be somewhat true, we of course decided to go with Supra's minimalistic Wrap model. The brand has continued to let loose the low-tops in a variety of color options, prints and materials, just like the heralded Authentic silhouette. In short, you can't go wrong with this Vans variant.
Fans of the Converse Pro Leather (Low) should try the Gourmet Cinque 2.
Again, we reiterated above that the Gourmet Cinque 2 is a nice alternative for the low-top edition of the Pro Leather from Converse, see as —well— Gourmet doesn't produce a mid or high-top take on the aforementioned silhouette. Nonetheless, from the matching cupsoles to the collar and heel, the cut on these two are quite similar, but again, we won't diminish the iconic nature of the Pro Leather. You will, however, be able to find some more eye-catching options of the Cinque 2, being done up in camo, animal print, etc. The clear difference here, though, the lacing system on the Cinque.

Fans of the New Balance 577 should try The Hundreds Scully.
The New Balance 577 of course was once a viable running option, as the Scully model from The Hundreds was indeed inspired by running sneakers. Both here a more apt casual play, we think you'll be pleased to see what the Scully has to offer as a replacer of the classic NB silhouette. Although presented in fewer colorway options (due to be around much less time), of course, it still wouldn't hurt to try out the California kicks for a wear or two.

Fans of the adidas Superstar should try the Gourmet Rossi L.
So probably right off the bat you're thinking that no one can match that iconic Shelltoe. And you're right, but once you get that out of the way, you should notice the similarities in the cut of these two sneakers. With the iconic Superstar silhouette being notably done up in leather much of the time, you will however find differing material options and more outlandish prints of the Rossi L from Gourmet —you know— if you're into that sort of thing.

Fans of the Nike Air Yeezy II Should try the Supra Skytop IV.
First off, let us say that the the Skytop IV from Supra has unfortunately not released yet. So even if we do convince you to give these a try, you'll have to wait a bit.
Now let's get into it. This is probably the hardest recommendation for you to swallow, simply due to the hype surrounding the Air Yeezy II from the Swoosh. But let us say that we got a very early look at the Skytop IV on the foot of Chad Muska at an event months back, and many attendees were mistaking it for the Yeezy sneaks — granted, the venue was very dark and he was skating the majority of the time, so still shots were rare. But still, there must have been inspiration pulled accordingly from Chad and crew on the forthcoming Skytop entry. The above colorway alone screams Yeezy, especially that midsole and collar/lining aspects. So let the hate rain down on this one, but you know you see it.
