It’s the New Year! Last year, The Game Plan brought you the best gear of 2013. It’s only natural that we don’t skip a beat, and there is no better way to do it than with the hungriest player in the NBA, Kevin Durant. KD has made his intent more obvious than any other player in the league: to dethrone The King. Last season, Durant singlehandedly tried to rally his Westbrook-less team, putting the squad on his back. I don’t think anyone was ready to witness Kid Clutch turn Game 3 against the Rockets into a game of NBA 2K13. When he brought up the ball there were only two options: flush it over five defenders or a pull-up trey making the out-of-bounds line look like the new NBA regulation three. Best in the West is not good enough. Top three in the world is unsettling. And until he gets an NBA title (or at least the NBA 2K15 cover), he considers himself on the bottom. In the words of Michael Jordan when asked about KD, “He’s coming!”

Nike KD VI
“I’ve been second my whole life. I was the second best player in high school. I was the second pick in the draft. I’ve been second in the MVP voting three times. I came in second in the finals. I’m tired of being second. I’m not going to settle for that. I’m done with it….” All we have to say is watch the throne, LeBron.
Nike KD 35 Gaming Tee
LeBron may be on the cover of NBA 2K14, but KD owns the fire icon. Defenders can try to switch their coverage to “play tight, deny ball, and double team,” but it really doesn’t make a difference. Once that three-ball leaves his hands, it’s all about the bottom of the net.
Nike Glow Ball Tee
The Glow Ball Tee takes a page from the Space Jam basketball. If Space Jam did a remake, the Monstar that absorbed KD’s powers would turn into a 6-10, smooth handling, thunder dunking, automatic trey-ball making machine.
Nike Data Storm Shorts
For the gym rat that just needs a great pair of sneakers and some shorts. KD admitted he only went to one school party because he spent most of his time in the gym. When asked what he wore, he responded, “Shorts and sneakers, what else?”
Nike Hero Hoody
Durant was singlehandedly the player that kept us connected to basketball during the NBA lockout. Whether it was a open run or a charity game, KD made sure to take every opportunity during the lockout to ball up. This hoody is for the late-night traveling from court-to-court until the sky turns to dawn.
Wade Stance Socks
These are the vacation socks! Kevin Durant’s idea of a vacation is playing in the Goodman League. The biggest gym rat in the game, KD doesn’t seem like he wants to take that big tropical vacation until he has the Larry O’Brien trophy to keep him company. Easily the hungriest player in the game.
