As the "20 Designs That Changed The Game" series marches on, Nike again shines the light on Penny Hardaway. As Penny's game continued to evolve, Nike needed to keep up. And, in order to contain such an explosive player, bold leaps needed to be taken. One day at a meeting an executive commented on how a sunglass case made of EVA foam was lightweight but protective and structured in form. The designers began sampling the material on shoes and had come up with a seamless prototype—in blue, coincidentally—and at a meeting Penny noticed it peeking out of a bag."That's my next shoe" he quipped. And the Nike Air Foamposite One was born. [via Nike, Inc.]
