10. Nike Flyknit Racer "Multicolor"
"That was probably one of the best colorways of the year. The reason I chose it was because I thought that shoe really changed the game. The Racers just have a sleeker look to them than the Lunars. You could wear them with jogging pants or jeans. It's one of the most versatile shoes of the year."
9. Ace Hotel x Converse Pro-Leather
"Converse put a lot of Pro Leathers out this year, and these were probably the best one. I was actually at the Ace Hotel when it came out and I didn't feel like carrying it home. I messed around and passed on it. My business partner ended up getting them, and every time he wears them, I'm like 'I should've grabbed em that day.' It's the only one on the list that got away this year. I thought it was ill how they punched out all the A's."
8. Invincible x Converse Jack Purcell Hi
"When I grabbed it, I thought they were cool. I wasn't super hype about the leopard on the back, but after I actually got the shoe, I found myself wearing them everyday for like two weeks. Part of it was that zipper on the back. Instead of me tying the shoes, I could just zip them up."
7. Sneaker Freaker x Puma Blaze of Glory "Shark Bait"
"That shoe was already a classic when they dropped it a couple years back, and it did really well for us when it came out again. But then with the 'Shark Baits,' they took it to another level."
6. Concepts x New Balance 998 "C-Note"
"The 998 is one of the best models from New Balance and I felt the C-Note was just a flawless shoe. It's super wearable and it's just a classic story. It's dope that it came out the same time the actual new $100 bill came out."
5. Mastermind x adidas Originals Superstar 80s
"The Superstar 80 to me is one of the best silhouettes that adidas has. They didn't skimp on any quality with these. The lace locks are even metal and the leather was super premium."
4. Air Jordan 1 OG "Black Toe"
"It's a classic silhouette and it was the first time that they brought the Nike Air logo back on the tongue instead of the Jumpman. And the shoe is just super wearable."
3. Burn Rubber x Reebok Classic Leather "Spirit of Detroit"
"I put this shoe on there because when Ro and I designed that shoe, we weren't even super excited about doing the Classic Leather. When we came out with it, it kind of changed my opinion and it made me really like it because it helped us tell the story of something that's really important to our city."
2. Distinct Life x Saucony Shadow 5000 "NOVEM Pack"
"This was the first project I did with Saucony. And it was the first project I worked on officially with my boy Frank the Butcher, so this has a lot of sentimental value."
1. Burn Rubber x New Balance NB577 "Detroit Boxing"
"To me, that was the best story of the year. To take the inspiration from Joe Louis with the violin case and the story of him going to the boxing gym at a young age and hiding his gloves in a violin case. I just thought it was our most well-executed projects to date. Of course, I had to put it at number one for the year."
