ASICS is on top in 2023, and the brand’s perfectly on-trend GT-2160 has been making noise as one of the sneakers of the year. It’s been the canvas for several killer collabs, with fashion brand Cecilie Bahnsen, skate brand Dime and locals Above The Clouds all putting their mark on the 2010s-era tech runner. It appears the momentum isn’t about to die down in 2024, though, as a new leak shows more fire on the way.
With Above The Clouds, Up There and HAL Studios clocking it with collabs this year, it’s no surprise ASICS is looking local for their next hit—and they’ve found it, linking up with Earls Collection. Leaked pics show the clothing brand has taken the GT-2160 in a fresh new direction, opting for a unique colour palette that appears to be drawn from the natural world with coastal aquas and earthy browns. The colours are on point, but the real flavour is in that woven mesh. It’s like they took this one off the running track and treated it to a restorative guided breathing session. Take your time, do it right.
The GT-2160 is the perfect choice for Earls Collection, a brand described as “a luxury clothing brand inspired by sporting greatness, nostalgia, and the continual pursuit of ‘better.'" Established in 2018 by former NRL player Lewi Brown, the brand not only fits the sports/style GT-2160 silhouette perfectly, but also echoes the ASICS ethos of Sound Mind, Sound Body.
No word on a release date right now, but expect to see these in the first quarter of 2024.
