A follow up to the recently released "Safari" Nike SB Dunk Low, the Swoosh's skateboarding division is using baseball great Ken Griffey Jr.'s popular signature sneaker as a source of inspiration.
First released in 1996, the "Freshwater" iteration of the Air Griffey Max 1 takes form as an upcoming SB Dunk Mid release. The pair is outfitted with a blue and black suede upper. it's worth noting that Griffey Jr.'s jersey number "24" traditionally seen on the ankle strap has been replaced with the number "58" (a possible reference to Nike SB's "We Club 58" concept) while an all-black tooling completes the look.
As of now, the release information surrounding this Nike SB Dunk Mid "Griffey Jr." has yet to be revealed but according to NikeSBorNothing, the pair is expected to release sometime in April at select Nike SB retailers.
UPDATE (03/25): International sneaker retailer Caliroots offers up a detailed look at the upcoming "Griffey Jr." SB Dunk Mid that's scheduled to release next week on Wednesday, April 1 for $115.
