It’s official—JD Sports have opened their brand-new flagship store in the heart of Sydney, right on Pitt Street mall at Mid City Centre.
Hundreds of sneaker and streetwear enthusiasts queued up the night before for the 7am store opening on August 3, all vying to be the first to cop exclusive kicks and threads.
On offer was 24-months’ worth of previously sold-out sneaker releases from Nike, Jordan, adidas Originals and New Balance, as well as a Nike pop-up where shoppers could customise their own Nike sidebags and tees in celebration of the return of the Air Max 1.
The night before, JD held a pre-opening party that featured a special guest appearance from Beta Squad’s Chunkz, performances from local artists SOPHIEGROPHY and A.Girl, as well as a lineup of DJs curated by Sydney collective Hotter Out West.
Guests at the event included local artists and JD collaborators, Billymaree, Official Lee, B. Wise, Tanaka Bibi, Gia Vorne, Babyface Mal and Olantekkers to name a few.
The monumental Pitt Street flagship store opening marked one of the largest events for JD Sports since their arrival down under over six years ago. The celebrations are set to continue across the next two weeks with multiple brand activations, DJ sets, and exclusive drops to come.
