It's not too often that you get a look inside a sneaker factory, with New Balance being the only brand regularly willing to show off its production process since it makes pairs domestically.

As part of its ongoing 50th anniversary celebration, Vans let the team at Popular Mechanics inside one of its overseas factories, showing off the work that goes into creating its skate footwear.

The video has archival footage from when Vans were made in the U.S., along with contemporary clips that show rubber being processed and shoes being put together.

Vans fans will note that Steve van Doren, whose father co-founded the company, has a couple of cameos.
