The NBA announced on Friday that New Orleans will host the 2017 NBA All-Star. The event was previously to be held in Charlotte, N.C., until the league decided to move things elsewhere over North Carolina's controversial bathroom bill.

"New Orleans is a world-class destination for sports and entertainment and we are very appreciative that the city is once again hosting our All-Star festivities," said commissioner Adam Silver in a release at

The location switch presents an interesting problem for sneaker companies, who no doubt already had their 2017 All-Star sneakers designed with Charlotte in mind. All-Star collections usually reflect the event's host city, meaning that brands will have to scramble to change the stories on existing designs or create new ones entirely.

Nike has supported the NBA's decision to relocate the 2017 All-Star, saying that it stands "against discrimination of any kind."
