New Balance's latest duo of releases looks to pull its colors from the sports rivalries of elite universities. This new set, designed by Boston-based Concepts, has a navy-accented pair representing Yale and a crimson one for Harvard.
While the sneakers aren't officially connected to either of the schools, the football field used in the press imagery and Concepts' history with this theme pretty much confirms the story. Additionally, Concepts says the red pair is connected to bandana manufacturing and dyeing facilities in its native Massachusetts.
These two sneakers are worldwide exclusives for Concepts and will launch on the same day as this year's Harvard/Yale football game. Pairs will release on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 12 noon online and 10 a.m. EST in-store. The New Balance 998 will retail for $180, with the 990 landing at $160.
