The limited Cyber Monday release of the "Top 3 Gold" Air Jordan 1 caused a scene in New York City, where eager shoppers crowded around NikeLab's 21 Mercer last night in anticipation of securing a pair. One of the people waiting in line uploaded the below video, which shows the progression from a relatively calm line to a bigger mass of people to dispersing crowds and a police presence.
The description for the video alleges that security at the store were hand-picking "their own people" to get the wristbands needed to buy the shoes.
While Sneaker News wrote that the release was canceled, an employee at NikeLab told Sole Collector that the "Top 3 Gold" Air Jordan 1 was sold on a first-come, first-served basis on Monday. A New York City-based reseller corroborated this, speculating that around 60 pairs were sold at NikeLab this morning.
