Angel Echevarria and Tristan McAlister share the halls of Virginia's Stafford High School. Echevarria, a husband and father of four who works as a custodian to take care of his family. McAlister is a senior student and baseball star. Despite coming from different walks of life, the two men have forged a friendship for the past two years built on general kindness.

“Angel’s one of those people that was always smiling, saying ‘God bless. Have a good day,’” senior Tristan McAlister told NBC Washington.

Throughout their friendship, Echevarria and McAlister discovered that they have a surprising amount of things in common, including their love of sneakers. During a recent conversation, McAlister asked Echevarria which pair of sneakers he should buy for himself. Echevarria suggested the Air Jordan 8, prompting McAlister to ask him if he has a pair of his own.

"No I got four kids. I can’t shop for myself," McEchevarria responded.

That's when McAlister decided to do something special for his friend.

I’ve known Angel for 2 years now and you won’t find a person who appreciates and smiles more than this guy I asked him what shoes should I buy and he picked out Jordan 8s and I asked if he had a pair and he said “no I have 4 kids, I can’t shop for myself” so today I surprised him pic.twitter.com/N1hJpRpCgl

“Just to be able to know that he would be able to bless me with what he did was just amazing. It truly touched my heart,” said Echevarria.

While McAlister didn't plan to tape the gifting, his mother insisted to that she could see Echevarria's reaction.
