Nike Kobe 9 Elite 'Brave Blue' Pays Tribute to Jerry Buss

A true showman, Buss was also known as a high-stakes poker player over the years.

by Brandon Richard

The Los Angeles Lakers identity of 'Showtime' started with the late great Jerry Buss, who bought the team in 1979. A true showman, Buss was also known as a high-stakes poker player over the years, finishing third in the 1991 World Series of Poker seven-card stud event and second place in the 2003 World Poker Tour Freeroll invitational. His signature look while seated at the table inspires a new colorway of the Nike Kobe 9 Elite.

Kobe Bryant and Nike salute Dr. Buss with a high-top styled in varying shades of blue, with teal Flywire, silver branding and a white outsole. The 'Brave Blue' Kobe 9 Elite will release next Saturday, October 18 for $225 at nike.com and Nike retailers.
