Scroll through a Complex reader's iPod and it is inevitable, you will come across a handful of Drumma Boy tracks. Christopher Golson was born in Memphis, TN and all about the things most guys obsess with growing up — music, basketball, and sneakers. The difference between him and most is that he had D1 skills on the court and music was in his blood, thanks to his father, the first African-American male to hold first chair in the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Entering college, Drumma had to make the choice — continue with his love on the court or knock out beats and get that paper. Who knows how things would have turned out if he decided to pursue hoops, but when you are up in the club you can thank Drumma Boy for bangers that get the Henny spillin' such as Jeezy x Kanye "Put On," Waka's "No Hands," and Birdman featuring Weezy & Drake "Money To Blow." Whether he was taking it to the rim or lacing 808s, though, Drumma has always had a crazy obsession with kicks. Check out Drumma Boy's Top 25 Kicks of All-Time.
25.AF1High
25. Nike Air Force 1 High
Drumma: "I put these on here just for the simple fact at how easily they can be destroyed after one wear, but they are one of my favorite styles of Nike. They are the go-to shoe when you want to rock all-white. You rock these with some Levi's jeans and a white tee and it is a classic look. I know I have seriously bought at least 10,000 pairs of these."
24.Af125
24. Nike Air Force 1 "25th Anniversary"
Drumma: "This is probably one of the most sought-after Nikes in the business. This proved that 25 years later that they could still do it and they were in such demand. I like the highs, but the mids are just more wearable and again the jeans and the white tee — a must."
23.JordanAJ5
23. Air Jordan Fusion 5
Drumma: "The Jordan style blend was a good look. That is when JB collaborated with the AF1 — I was like ahhh, hell no. I really liked the white and purple ones. I got like five pairs of the black and neons. The best part is they don't tear up like the AF1s. Just a little bit fresher look and my back up to the AF1. As you can tell I really like AF1s, haha."
22adidasadirise2
22. adidas Adi-Rise 2.0
Drumma: "These are brand new, just a fresh shoe. I had to throw these in and I wanted something more current on my list. It is just a real clean and fresh design. I was always a huge fan of the shelltoes and always a big supporter of adidas. They dropped these green and gold ones and I matched it up with adidas classic three-stripe jacket. The same with the blue ones. It is always a pair of high-tops that sell you over. The high-top always look better with jeans."
21NikeToki
21. Nike Toki Canvas
Drumma: "I'm from Memphis, Tennessee and we have that real gentleman/player style type of feel. You might want to hit the riverwalk or art type event — these are more casual. The only thing about them is if you spill something on them, you are sick. You have to hit those with the stain repellent and touch them up in case something drops on them you can wipe 'em down. A great shoe to flip up the style"
20NikeVandal
20. Nike Vandal High
Drumma: "I always liked Blazers and then when the Vandals dropped I was like damn. They were a little bit more supreme, a little doper detail to the shoe. This was something different and the colorways they dropped were nice. A lot of times my shoe selection is based off of dope colorways."
19NB574
19. New Balance 574
Drumma: "One of the most comfortable shoes I have in my closet. The is a great low-type style, another great casual style. You keep it hood, gangster options, you have your flashy style, and then this is a great prep option. I really need something that is comfortable at times and you can't go wrong with the navy blue and grey joints — that's the only colorway I rock in New Balances. If you are a true NB fan you have to have the navy and grey classics. Anytime I am wearing navy or grey, I am definitely going to throw these on."
18NikeBlazer
18. Nike Blazer High
Drumma: "I got at least 10 pairs of these — the black and white ones, the suede ones, the blue jean Blazer with orange thread around the tongue and forest green, love those. I also have some brown and yellow ones with a yellow carpet material on the Swoosh. I also mess with the "rain mesh" type of material that was like black with brown soles and a white strip on the front. *ducks into closet* Man I got so many pairs of Blazers, probably my favorite high-top shoe."
17Jordan1
17. Air Jordan 1
Drumma: "The Jordan 1 was just so classic, especially when they dropped the double box with original black/red/white colorway and another pair with the black and yellow pair in the same box. That was my first time buying the Jordan 1s. That was the Jordan that pushed the big numbers and watching Jordan drop a classic sneaker from the start. I wasn't up on it when they first came out because I was too young and I didn't have parents who were concerned with urban things like having Nike's on their child's feet, but I have at least a dozen pairs of these now."
16NikePenny2
16. Nike Air Max Penny II
Drumma: "Classics. Penny Hardaway is one of my favorite basketball players of all-time and through the Memphis, Tennessee connection we became good friends. I later found out that he was one of my cousins and we have just been rocking ever since. His shoe was one of the best basketball signature shoes other than Jordan. Everybody had the Pennys, and if Penny never got injured he would have had the second-best selling basketball signature line of all-time behind Jordan of course."
15Jordan8
15. Air Jordan IX
Drumma: "I liked these because they were so clean — the white and black pair with the red Jordan logo on the side. It's weird because anytime Jordan dropped a new shoe the anticipation was so crazy, everyone at school who had them on the first day was considered cool. The simple colorway, always mess with black and white since you can throw it together with about any outfit. They dropped in '93 right after MJ's retirement, this is all we had after he left the game."
14NikeGriffey2
14. Nike Air Griffey Max II
Drumma: "These are another classic. The best baseball shoe — everyone loves Griffey. Griffeys and Pennys were a must, I had to have those. Salute to Griffey, wish he was still around doing his thing."
13NikePenny1
13. Nike Air Max Penny I
Drumma: "I had more pairs of the IIs because there were more colors and options. The Penny I wasn't as comfortable as the II, but the I was just a classic basketball shoe. The Penny I was so hyped, his movement was major when they came out."
12Jordan13
12. Air Jordan XIII
Drumma: "What made these a classic was seeing Denzel Washington rock these in He Got Game with Ray Allen — ya know, Jesus Shuttlesworth. Seeing Denzel rock these with the ankle bracelet — like come on, it was classic. Ray Allen was the new hype of the NBA, that was one of my favorite movies and seeing these in there made them an instant classic. I played a lot of ball, rocked these in high school — I had some D1 offers to play at Memphis and Arkansas with Nolan Richardson but then I was making that money with music so I had to pass on the hoop dreams."
11Huarache
11. Nike Air Flight Huarache
Drumma: "One of my favorite Nike high-top looks with the Blazers, Vandals and the Air Force 1s. I like how the ankle is an open look and the colorways were dope. One of the classic shoes and most popular Nike hightops. It has been one of the most elevated shoes when they release a new model of the Huarache."
10Jordan6
10. Air Jordan VI
Drumma: "I messed with the black and red ones, also the North Carolina ones were dope. I was a huge UNC fan and growing up as a kid the Carolina blue was one of my favorite colors. Any time a Jordan dropped in that color I had to have them. The Jordan VI still looks so good."
9SupraSky2
9. Supra Skytop II
Drumma: "These were stupid, I grabbed the grey and green ones. I just recently got up on Supra a few years ago and started paying attention to them. When I saw this particular shoe I had to get them. This wasn't even a high-top, this shoe was so extreme but it looked so dope. I remember the first time I wore them everyone was asking what I had on. People down South weren't really on them like that."
8PumaSuedeClassic
8. Puma Suede Mid Classics
Drumma: "These Pumas are a great high-top, I love the suede with jeans when you want to step up your level. You can put your tongue out the jeans and let them flex."
7NikeMax95
7. Nike Air Max 95
Drumma: "Classics. Not to much needs to be said about the 95s, Nike had people tripping off the fact they had the air bubble in the shoe. Back in those days the size of the air bubble was everything *laughs* it was a must. The way they shaded their colors from a dark red and just get lighter and lighter throughout the upper was crazy. The turquoise ones were my favorite pair — so comfortable and stylish. You rock these with a Polo suit or anytime you just wanted to kick, my favorite shoes after I got off the court."
6PumaClyde
6. Puma Clyde Script
Drumma: "These were standard with shorts in the summertime, you just slip them on. These are by far my favorite Puma ever — so comfortable. I have these in a million colorways and I don't know what it is about them but they look so fly with jewelry — my gold chain Jesus piece and Rolex or a pair of Dickies grey shorts and a Diamond Co. shirt. Man I love rocking Diamond Co. with my Pumas for some reason. It always hits and is more of a skateboard feel. To be honest, I went to a predominately white high school so you catch onto the Puma look quick. Urban prep mixed with skateboard."
5ReebokPumpOmni
5. Reebok Pump Omni Lite
Drumma: "These fucking things right here are ridiculous man, everyone went crazy when them Pumps came up. When they dropped in '91 I got a pair of these — every kid had a pair of these. I remember getting to high school and coppin' another pair online. I just recently got another pair of Pumps, I need to get a new pair now."
4NikeCortez
4. Nike Cortez
Drumma: "Classic gangster shit right here — more of a gangster West Coast feel. They just looked cool with jogging suits, with Nike jogging suits. It was all about the look, I didn't think they were that comfortable - I mean I didn't throw them on and *relax sighs* that was more of the Air Maxes but you know the Cortez looked so good with the jogging suits and hooded sweatsuits."
3adidassuperstar2
3. adidas Superstar
Drumma: "The shell toes are one of my favorite adidas shoe, I have over 20 pairs in assorted colors. These looked dope with a jogging suit or the jacket, you always had to match these up with an adidas jacket or some type of adidas shirt. I am an adidas jacket fanatic — love the shell toes. A lot of people don't even know the name is the Superstars. We used to say 'damn you a superstar man' when people rocked them and a lot of people didn't really know we were talking about the kicks. You know, you might see someone in all-adidas with these kicks and you would yell out 'I see you, superstar!' If they up on it and know what you are talking about, they a real adidas fanatic."
2NikeSweetClassic
2. Nike Sweet Classic High
Drumma: "These are stupid — I love these joints, another one of my favorite Nike hig-tops. I have a pair of white and red, white and blue with the grey bottom. I think I found out about these in '07, a newer Nike and it grew on me. When you throw them on they feel good on the feet. I have average feet, I'm a size 10 and I feel like a lot of shoes were wide, like Nike Flights, but these were standard and had a much better fit. These are also my favorite high-tops to rock with shorts, I actually prefer them with shorts over jeans."
1Jordan5
1. Air Jordan V
Drumma: "Man, my favorite Jordans in the history of Jordans. When they just re-released in late August and I bought a few new pairs. The 'Grapes' man, that is one of the greatest shoes ever *takes a moment of silence* that emerald and grape colorway is crazy. I'm waiting on them Grapes to drop again. The Jordan V pack that dropped a few years ago — those red ones were dope. The standard OGs are a classic as well, especially the white and red ones with the number on it. Not too many people had the ones with the number on it."
