Keke Palmer took to Twitter Saturday to discuss a recent encounter involving a fan who allegedly filmed her after sheΒ politely declined to take a photo on three separate occasions.
Palmer said she was at a bar when a woman approached her and asked forΒ a picture several times. The Nope actress claimed she βnicelyβ told her that she didnβt want to takeΒ a photo, but the fanΒ βstill [proceeded] to film me against my will.βΒ
βNo means no, even when it doesnβt pertain to sex. I was at the bar the other day and this girl asked me three times for a picture and I told her three times nicely that I did not want take one with her,β she wrote.Β βShe still preceded to film me against my will.β
Palmer said she βnervously laughedβ off the situation, knowing if she were to lash out over someone invading her privacy, it would have placed her in a bad light.Β
Palmer elaborated even further on the uncomfortableΒ situation on Instagram, admitting that her behavior in the moment wasnβt indicative of how she felt internally.Β
βClearly Iβm still upset about it,β she captioned the post. βI hated that I smiled, but that is my defense mechanism to laugh or joke in an uncomfortable situation and it misleads people every time.β
βLiterally I could be wanting to scream, and on the outside Iβm still preforming. The fact that I tell people no at all is therapeutic progress for me,β Palmer added. βCreating boundaries can sometimes be so difficult but when you people please or always try to avoid conflict, you let yourself down every time.β
Back in 2020, Palmer alsoΒ voiced her desire forΒ privacyΒ amid speculation that she and August Alsina had dated. After someone posted a black-and-white photo of her and August, asking, βThis you?,β she responded, βThe theme is boundaries. Everybody doesnβt need to know your business, thatβs not fake thatβs honoring oneβs privacy.βΒ
Palmer ended her IG post with some words of advice for anyone who asks to take a photo with her,Β but this could be applied to everyone who wants a picture with a celebrity. βIf you ever want a picture with me and I say no, letβs just let that rock,β she wrote.
