Canadians of a certain age grew up reading Robert Munsch books, and Drake is no exception.
Back in July, Drake unveiled a new shoe with Nike, a pair of Air Force 1s originally named after his Certified Lover Boy album, and now Drake says the shoe pays tribute to his mother and their favourite book, Munsch’s Love You Forever.
The shoe’s heel reads “Love You Forever.” Drake explained the book’s personal significance in an Instagram post: “Love You Forever AF1 dedicated to my incredible mother and our favourite book.”
Love You Forever is about a mother who sings a lullaby to her son at various stages of his life. The lullaby goes “I love you forever, I’ll love you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.”
Munsch saw Drake’s post and reposted it as a story on his official Instagram account, replying with the clapping and heart emojis.
The shoe itself keeps it simple with an all-white design, “Love You Forever” in cursive written on the heel, and bedazzled hearts right above the text.
According to Sole Collector, the shoes are slated to be released on Dec. 2.
