Entertainment Weekly reports that they'll be playing with a "new kind of Peter Parker" who we "haven't previously seen before." Unlike Parker in the latest movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, the character's video game version is promised to be older and more "experienced." Spidey will be more like Parker in the '90s animated series and in the comics, as he'll be "trying to hold his personal life together and balance the weight of the world on the shoulders." But the one thing that caught our eye was the "Spider-Punk Suit" along with at least two more alternate costumes, which are slated to be revealed later this year.
Prices for the game, which will be available through digital and retail stores, start at $59.99. There will also be a Digital Deluxe version with additional story chapters for its companion DLC series, Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps, available for $79.99. And for the die-hard Spider-Man fans, there's a Collector’s Edition which will include the digital deluxe, a Steelbook case, an art book, and a Spider-Man statue. Gamers will also receive a Spider-Man designed pin when they pre-order the Digital Deluxe version, while all gamers who pre-order will have the bonus costumes, as stated in Playstation's press statement.
Now is as best as time as ever for this game since Spider-Man is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and set to fight Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, ahead of the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel's release.
Marvel's Spider-Man will be released on Sept 7, three months before the upcoming Miles Morales–led animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, that's due out on Dec 14.
