Hugh Dane, who's best known for his role as Hank the Security Guard on The Office, has died. He was 75.
The Inner City Cultural Center announced the news with a post on Facebook and has since gained the attention of several stars from The Office.
"RIP Hugh Dane, aka Hank the security guard. He was one of the greats. So kind, funny, talented. We will all miss him," read a tweet from Rainn Wilson, which also included a suggestion to donate to the Inner City Cultural Center in Dane's name. Wilson added a clip of a scene his character, Dwight, shared with Dane. The post was later retweeted by B.J. Novak.
Steve Carell and Mindy Kaling also shared a message about Dane on Twitter. "What a terrific guy," read Carell's tweet. "Hugh Dane was one the funniest actors ever. I loved writing and acting with him," wrote Kaling with a heart emoji.
In his 30-year career, Dane also had several roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Bridesmaids, Boy Meets World, and a reoccurring role as Fred in the Emmy-nominated '90s show, Roc. Most recently he played a police officer on The Mayor. In lieu of flowers, Dane's family is asking others to donate to The Inner City Cultural Center, an organization which helps minority creatives foster their talent. Find more information here.
