Twitter, which has more than 4,100 employees spread across 30 offices all over the globe, has confirmed plans to lay off roughly eight percent of its employees as a part of a larger streamlining process moving forward. Just days after returning to the throne as CEO, Jack Dorsey revealed the layoffs alongside some clarification as to the necessity of such cuts:

As Dorsey states in the announcement, the shedding of jobs shouldn't necessarily be regarded as a negative thing. In fact, Dorsey and the rest of the Twitter higher-ups seem adamant in the continuation of the platform's dedication to providing a unique and continually streamlined user experience. "We feel strongly that Engineering will move much faster with a smaller and nimbler team, while remaining the biggest percentage of our workforce," Dorsey told employees. "And the rest of the organization will be streamlined in parallel."
Twitter recently launched the undeniably awesome Moments feature, which allows users to grab a quick but entirely immersive look at the best of what's happening on Twitter at any given time moment. According to Mashable, these 336 layoffs will successfully cut costs in the long run, though it is predicted to initially result in severance costs as high as $20 million.
