While shooting the Force Awakens followup Last Jedi, Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) was gifted with the opportunity of being repeatedly slapped in the face by the late Carrie Fisher. Isaac, currently promoting his appearance in the Public Theater's Hamlet, revealed on Thursday's Late Show that he was actually slapped an estimated 27 times during production.

"A large amount of the stuff that I got to do was with Carrie, which was amazing," Isaac told host Stephen Colbert of the Last Jedi shoot. "I remember the first day of shooting was a scene with Carrie, and you know often times that first day, everybody is trying to get the tone and figure it out. I remember it was a scene where I come up to talk to her and she's very upset with me and slaps me, and [director Rian Johnson] kept doing it over and over."

Isaac said he had been slapped 27 times in a row by Fisher before Johnson finally got the take he wanted. "[Fisher] does amazing work in this," Isaac added.

Fisher died in December at the age of 60. Shortly after the iconic writer and actor's passing, fellow Star Wars legend Mark Hamill penned a tribute for the Hollywood Reporter. "She was so committed to joy and fun and embracing life," Hamill said. “She had an Auntie Mame quality to her. I would do crazy things to amuse her on the set. Making her laugh was always a badge of honor."
