Abrams' recent declaration to Nerdist will promptly set off a chain of events that victoriously results in a already-know-it's-great Star Wars film directed by Ava DuVernay. When discussing the glaring lack ("lack" as in zero) of women to have ever sat in the Star Wars director's chair, Abrams echoed the recent sentiments of LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy before revealing his go-to pick to break that cycle:
Excellent choice, J.J. During a recent interview with the Guardian, Kennedy said "there’s nothing we’d like more than to find a female director for Star Wars," a long overdue addition to the universe that finally seems to be slowly but surely becoming a reality.
