Simulations are all the rage right now. There are simulators for everything. Trains. Farming Equipment. Trash Collectors. Goats. Now, thanks to intrepid developer Strange Panther Games, you can add rocks to that list.
Yes, Rock Simulator 2014 exists. It is real. It's looking to raise funds for development costs on Steam Greenlight as well as Indiegogo. Basically the notion is simple: as a rock, you exist. You sit wherever you are in the world. Sometimes something might happen. You might roll down a cliff. You might be rain on. Other times you are just there, standing in silent vigil as the days turn to weeks, months, years.
As if that wasn't enough, the game is said to have customizable rock options, multple levels and game modes, and – the piece de resistance – Oculus Rift support.
If for no other reason besides this, you should probably consider pledging for this free-to-play geological exercise. The silly trailer above gives you an idea of what to expect, to some degree, though you could probably bet all the grains of sand (that were once rocks, you know) on all the beaches in the world that this is just something you have to play to truly understand. Rock Simulator 2014 will launch for free on PC sometime soon.
