Kickstarter Suffers Security Breach, CEO Says No Credit Card Data Stolen

Kickstarter suffered a security breach Wednesday when hackers gained access to customer data, the company has announced. Kickstarter said no credit card data was accessed, though other customer information, including names, email and mailing addresses and encrypted passwords for some customers were.

The company also said that only two accounts had unauthorized activity but urges everyone to immediately change their passwords. No encrypted passwords were revealed, though it can be possible for hackers to break encryptions like these without a lot of effort. Facebook login credentials have also been reset.

While this far from, say, a Target-caliber security breach, Kickstarter customers are urged to take every possible precaution against threats like this by strengthening your passwords on accounts with financial information.
