When the Penn State Board of Trustees dropped the hammer on legendary coach Joe Paterno last night, it sent shockwaves through the university. The student body responded by turning State College, Pa., into a riot zone, flipping a news van, overturning light posts and forcing 100 or so police to subdue crowds of rabid fans with pepper spray.
Students raged through downtown State College for over an hour, prompting the university to send a mass text asking everyone to disperse. The crowd was furious that Paterno was fired after announcing early Wednesday that he would step down as head coach at the end of the season. Though police still haven’t released any arrest information, students seemed proud of the carnage they created, even going as far as to blame the board for inciting the riot.
But let's be real: the real riot should've been outside of Jerry Sandusky’s house.
