Sasha Grey, at 23, has a diverse resume. Surely the number of individuals that have both won an AVN award for "Best Group Sex Scene" and starred in a Steven Soderburgh film is few. The history of actors in porn pursuing mainstream work is not unheard of (Marilyn Chambers' appearance in Cronenberg's
Rabid is a personal favorite), but the legitimacy Grey carries is atypical. How many other porn stars have recieved
praise in the New York Times for the "unusual degree of intellectual seriousness" they bring to their work?
Tonight at Housing Works, Grey celebrates the publication of her book
Neu Sex by participating in a Q&A with music writer and
Stereogum editor Brandon Stosuy.
Published by VICE,
Neu Sex is a book of photography with thoughts and remarks from Grey interwoven among the photos.
