It turns out your incompetent coworker isn't the only person who forgets to use the BCC field. Per a new report, New York's Obamacare healthcare exchange, the New York State of Health, did just that, accidentally revealing the email addresses of recent enrollees to one another in a recent mass email.
"This issue affected a very limited sample; in some cases, a person saw no more than 99 other emails,” the state Department of Health told Betabeat, without specifying just how many addresses were leaked.
“A reminder email to a small group of individuals from NY State of Health regarding the up-coming March 31st enrollment deadline for selecting a health insurance plan inadvertently included the email addresses of the addressees,” said the statement, “Other than the email addresses, no identifying information was included in the email.”
Yikes.
