Zelda Rap

"Zelda Rap" (The Legend of Zelda, 1987)

Lil Wayne Says:

Them graphics so fine I wanna bone ’em

Maybe have a three-way with Zelda in my home an'

Bust off quick while the game be loadin'—

Nah, Mom, get out, I’m self clonin'...Nintendoin'

Chainsaw Hand

"Chainsaw Hand" (Evil Dead: Hail to the King, 2000)

Complex Says: Have you ever wondered what Bruce Campbell’s home looks like? Actually, it’s probably completely normal except for the fact that he has Jason Voorhees’ head mounted on his bathroom wall because he tried to pick a fight with The King (whom we all hail). Not even Jason was worth B.C.’s living room wall, though—that's being saved for whenever Thor, The God of Thunder, decides to shit on B.C.’s lawn.

Sports Fans

"Sports Fans" (Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, 2003)

Complex Says: Finally, a commercial that doesn’t beat around the bush. See? We did it too!

Feeding Time

"Feeding Time" (Resident Evil 4, 2005)

Complex Says: You know, if the zombie invasion happened and we walked in on this, we think we’d be OK with it. Probably just apologize to her and move on into the kitchen pantry, where maybe there’s some Froot Loops right next to the zombie hamster’s leftover intestines neatly packed and labeled in a tiny Ziploc container.

Human Cockfighting

"Human Cockfighting" (Xbox, 2006)

Complex Says: Too bad they didn’t use any of the outtakes where all these actors got fed up with being portrayed as stereotypically “exotic/third world” Indians and cockpunched the entire crew shooting the commercial—which was probably being filmed just outside of like Dearborn, Michigan. That main cockfighter guy runs a carwash or something right next to a Big Lots.

Office Space

"Office Space" (World of Warcraft, 2006)

Complex Says: LOLZ oh man it’s just like real life! There totally HAS to be some poor kid in Romania playing WoW on some beat-up old CRT monitor just like in the commercial! Oh, and Peter: we salute you. Fuck those TPS reports. Now go destroy another printer...or maybe a red-ringed 360.

Mad World

"Mad World" (Gears of War, 2006)

Complex Says: When you run out of ideas, fall back on the classic trope of mixing haunting music and violent imagery. Fun fact: If you turn off the sound to Saving Private Ryan and play Michael Bolton's greatest hits album four times in a row on repeat (that damn movie is long), the whole thing turns into a brilliant commentary on how beautiful violence can be, even during the opening Normandy landing scene where there’s like intestines everywhere. Because now those intestines have SIGNIFICANCE, see.

Arms Race

"Arms Race" (Halo 3, 2007)

Complex Says: This spot was a two-fold experiment, a live-action piece done by Bungie, Neil Blomkamp (District 9), and New Zealand SFX firm WETA. Think of it not only as an ad, but also what a Halo movie could be on the big screen. Props to Blomkamp for District 9 and all, but we want to see Christopher Nolan do Halo. Then again, we want to see what Christopher Nolan would do to anything. Specifically, an origin reboot story for Dirty Schoolgirl Hustle 31 (not 30, which was already pure genius).

Risky Business

Heidi Klum x Risky Business (Guitar Hero: World Tour, 2008)

Complex Says: WTF SHE ONLY ACTUALLY STRUMMED LIKE 3 TIMES DURING THE WHOLE COMMERCIAL THAT ISN’T ACCURATE
