While a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Tiffany Haddish kept things light while addressing her recent DUI arrest in Peachtree City, Georgia.

“I can say this Jimmy, I’ve been praying to God to send me a new man, a good man,” the Grammy-winning comedian, who also recently parted ways with Common, said. “And God went ahead and sent me four in a uniform. I wasn’t expecting it.”

As the crowd laughed, Haddish quickly added that she’s not too worried about her current legal snafu.

“Now I got a really great lawyer and we’re gonna work it out. And I’ve gotta get my asking of things to God a little better,” she explained.

As reported by TMZ, the Girls Trip star was pulled over around 4 a.m. on January 14 for allegedly falling asleep at the wheel of her car. Once pulled over, officers arrested her and suspected she had been using Marijuana. Haddish was able to post bond in the amount of $1,666, and was released at around 6:30 a.m from the Fayette County Jail.

Later in her Fallon interview, Haddish reflected on the “tough week” she’d had after having to grieve for both the death of Bob Saget and of her grandmother.

“He was the first white man to ever tell me ‘just be yourself. Just be who you are Tiffany, don’t worry about nothing, just be you,’” she said about Saget. “That was huge for me, and then, my grandma passed away and she saved my life. That’s my heart, she was like my soul mate. So that’s been really hard to process all this, you know, grief.”

Fallon applauded the comedian’s commitment to appearing on the show despite all her heartache, saying, “It takes a lot of guts.”

“Well also, just being in your presence even if it’s through Zoom, it’s like, through the energy, it brings me joy,” Haddish concluded.
