Today tens of thousands of protestors gathered in New York to stand in solidarity against police violence in the aftermath of the deaths of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, and countless other unarmed black men killed by law enforcement.
Banding together under the banner of #MillionMarchNYC, the march was one of several organized across the country, including a national event in D.C. "Our message is very simple," said organizer Carl Dix. "The 'normal routine' of America has always included the murder of black and Latino people by law enforcement. This week, that 'normal routine' must be disrupted."
More protests are scheduled to take place throughout the week.
