With Jay Z being the cultural icon he is, we knew it was only a matter of time before he'd throw his hat into the gaming arena. So when it was announced that he was going to be releasing a game through Facebook, we had mixed feelings. It will be a quality game no doubt, but somehow we can't shake the feeling that it will loaded with fluff. In order to add a bit of edge, we'd like to offer our input on what will make Empire not only an investment but also a classic game.
An Original Soundtrack
If there's anything that we'd like to enjoy in Empire, it would be a dope soundtrack. Just please for the love of anything right in the world, don't let it be a bunch of half-assed rhymes from the 90s over beats Just Blaze did when he got his first sampler. We want to hear the type of stuff that makes rush to Rapidshare.
Change Blue Ivy's Diaper Side Missions
To add realism, we'd like to enter Jay Z's world and feel like the superstar he is. What better way than to handle some of his domestic duties. Perhaps a countdown clock at the bottom of the screen would make it work. Once the clock hits zero, you must abandon your main mission and rush home to change the baby. Players will also be able to upgrade to diapers made of $100 bills.
A Clone Elimination Bonus Round
If a player finishes a mission flawlessly, they'd be able to enter a special bonus round where you must get rid of every Jay Z clone on the screen. They'll come from every corner wearing Yankee fitteds yelling out Jay's signature "Yep!" Clear them all out and you get extra points, currency or whatever you'll be dealing with in-game.
A Bail For Beanie Option
Randomly throughout game-play, Beanie Seigel will have a run-in with the law where you will need to provide bail money to get him out of jail. If you're alble to get him back on the streets fast enough, he'll go to the studio and work on an album. If you're low on currency, just sell some stock (see number 8).
An Unload The Nets Stock Feature
Uh oh, the Brooklyn Nets are taking a beating...again. It's time to get rid of some of that stock. In exchange, players will receive a boost in financial cred and a small amount of game currency. This will come in handy when you need to make an emergency purchase or hire security.
Stop The Leak Missions
Every now and then, a song (or five) from your new album will leak out prompting you to go to a blogger's basement and pistol whip them. Depending on your style of gameplay, you may not want to stop a mission in progress to handle it. Just use one of your 5 laywer commands to issue a cease and desist letter. That'll show those internet bandits!
A Murk The Landlord Side Quest
Once you've progressed enough to score a crib in Tribeca, Marcy Projects will be distant memory. That doesn't mean that you can't go back and help your peers still living there. There will be times when the elevator breaks down or the tenants are freezing because the super won't turn on the heat. Send your goons over to Marcy and make their problems vanish into thin air.
An Avoid The Struggle Rapper Puzzle
Of course the object of the game is to create a grand empire but hurdles will attempt to block you from the goal. Struggle rappers will try to give you mixtapes and demos each time you make a stop. This dialogue driven puzzle will present you with a multiple choice option of what to say if you are approached. Choose the best response and you may be rewarded with them leaving. Pick the wrong one and expect a diss album with your name on it.
A Dame Dash Boss Battles
At each level-up, you must face an angry Dame Dash who will sue you, sign rappers to call you names or make witty comments to the media. Use your Jigga skills to evade and block the onslaught. If successful, make friends with him, take a photo and wait until next level-up.
Dodge The Illuminati
Since the rumor won't go away why not include Jay Z's alleged Illuminati ties? While on a mission, representatives of the omnipotent secret society will approach you for recruitment. It's then on you to decide if you want to accept for a quick boost in popularity or continue to grind your way up the ladder. Mind you, if you choose to accept entry into the Illuminati, you must face a barrage of YouTube videos accusing you of devil worship.
An "Operation P.R. (Protect Rihanna)" Mini Game
Whether it's weed or Chris Brown, your pop princess Rihanna must be protected. Randomly you'll get a "text" saying that Ri-Ri is in trouble again and you must run to her aid. Once you heal her or chase off members of the media hunting for a good story, it's back to your original mission of becoming king of the rap game.
A Beyonce Cam
The best part of Empire would be the ability to see the same thing Jay Z sees when he's at home. We want a real-life camera to follow Beyonce around. The cam will capture all of her most exciting moments like her bending over to pick up things, squeezing into tight clothing and dance practice of only her most seductive moves.
