Stephen Furst, best known for playing the character Flounder in the classic frat movie Animal House, has passed away at age 63.
Furst, who had dealt with diabetes for years and spent time as a spokesman for the American Diabetes Association, is said to have passed away at his home in Ventura County, California due to complications from the disease. In a message left by Furst's sons on his Facebook page, they stressed to remember their father not by mourning his passing, but by celebrating his life:
Though his iconic role was as "a real zero" of a freshman in college, there were lots of people sad to hear of Furst's passing, as they shared their grief on social media.
Apart from his famous role in Animal House, Furst was best known for playing Dr. Elliot Axelrod in the 1980s television series St. Elsewhere, as well as his spell as Vir Cotto on Babylon 5 in the mid-90s.
