Gaming is complex, so catch up each week with the short and dirty in Reboot: This Week In Games.
This week Nintendo finally offered a solution to all those 3D games, 2D ones! With the launch of the new, economical, 2DS you can play all your favorite 3d games in regular old flat form.
Grand Theft Auto V launched its official trailer this week, not to be confused with all the other trailers, and manages to surprise us again with a huge soundscape and original score by the Tangerine Dream, exactly no one saw that coming.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn launched this week and was so popular that Square Enix had to nix digital says to free up servers for gamers to play. But the game, when we were able to play, is fun and promises major updates every three months.

Earlier this month 7DFPS wrapped up their latest Game Jam resulting in the creation of 280 shooters in just one week. Check out this video giving us a look at 41 or these entries showing off the wide-range of first-person shooters variations submitted.
Hopefully some of these shooters make it our way and maybe into something like Ubisoft's Next gaming series, think of it as eSports lite. The tournaments will be held at conventions like PAX, Comic-con, Magfest and E3 with regular tournaments being held online and in select physical locations.
In other miscellaneous news Minecraft finally get's an update to have less water and more land. Our suggestion was to built a Waterworld map but we guess this just as good. Minecraft's new world generator will result in more island as well as new biomes and moving their placement so that they're not randomly distributed; Jungle will not sit directly next to snow-covered peaks for instance. Also added are small details like new flowers and trees. The world generator can be seen above, the amount of ocean has been halved, at least.

Microsoft finally implemented the long-awaited currency conversion announced at E3 earlier this year. This update will convert all your currently held Microsoft Points into your respective local currency. In the U.S., that will result to about $1 USD to every 80 Microsoft Points.
Rumors were swirling earlier this week from reportadly leaked retailer documents claiming that the Xbox One would launch on November 8, Microsoft did confirm that it will launch in November but squashed the eighth as the day.
In a cool feature not fully addressed until this Friday, both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will automatically download games and apps that are purchased when you're not at home. So purchase a game on your mobile and go home and play, sweet.

ter a long and painful wait,Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Rebornis now available worldwide on PlayStation 3 and PC. The MMORPG will run PC gamers $39.99 and PS3 users $29.99 with monthly subscriptions starting at $12.99. Versions for PlayStation 4 will be available after it releases in November. The game is set five years after the realm of Eorzea was ravaged by the unleashing of the Bahamut in the original Final Fantasy XIV.
But like most MMORPG their fist couple days were pretty rocky. After just one day of sales Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn servers are crowded and dropping users. Square Enix's temporary fix is to suspend digital downloads while it bolsters servers.

Nintendo announced the launch of the Nintendo 2DS, a new more ecnomically priced version of the Nintendo 3DS. They got rid of the third dimension and passed the savings on to you!
While this strange move by Nintendo may put it in a better position for the holidays another Android Kickstater console is now out. The Android-powered microconsole GameStick will begin shipping to backers in a couple weeks and will available to the public, at large, on September 30. The Kickstarter funded microconsole is smaller and more portable than its Ouya competitor but we’re still unclear the amount and quality of games available.
Oh and if you're wondering what you'll do on your Wii U this fall check out this sweet video of a fort attack in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The video debuted at Gamescom last week. In it, protagonist pirate assassin Edward Kenway uses his ship - the Jackdaw - to destroy a fort's defenses while fighting off two defending warships. Once the ships have been repelled and the forts cannon towers have been destroyed Edward seamlessly dives off the ship and is instantly engaged in land battles. The assult is won when Kenway hunts down and assassinates the fort commanders.

Rockstar released the Official trailer for Grand Theft Auto V, not to be confused with the gameplay trailer, or the online trailer. The official trailer will be shown again on television this Sunday night during, appropriately enough, Breaking Bad.
Big soundtrack news in GTAV this week as collaborators and stations were listed in Rolling Stone. ling Stone has finally unveiled details about the game's eclectic soundtrack. GTAV will feature 240 licensed songs as well as 15 music radio stations and two all-talk radio channels. Totaling "somewhere in the proximity of 20 movies' worth of score" while collaborating with artists and presenters that include Wavves, DJ Pooh, Jesco White, Bootsy Collins, Kenny "Loverboy" Loggins and tons more.
Arts and models are getting their own stations as well in GTAV as Flying Lotus and Cara Delevingne will both be DJing stations in the game.
If that wasn't enough, gamers who buck-up for the collectors edition of Grand Theft Auto V will get a special unlockable where they will be able to play the children of GTA protagonists of yore. That's right, now you can play Nico Bellic's likely brute of a son, let's see if he still has an accent.
