Spec Ops: The Line is one of those rare games that will have you seriously reconsidering you actions and choices within the game as it's really hard to make it through with an entirely clean conscious. When all the GOTY nominations game out, I was genuinely pissed that Max Payne 3 didn't get more praise. Seriously, this game is balls-to-the-wall action with an incredible level of polish, a narrative deserving of Rockstar's seal, and a whole lot of fun.

Despite all the fan love for the series, the Game of Thrones video game was a bit of a mess. A clunky RPG with way too much dialog (true to form) made it a little bit of a pain to own at full price. However, $10 ain't too bad to pay if you're looking for something to enjoy between marathon season run throughs with your friends while you wait for the next season to start.

Although some may blast if for ruining history, Assassin's Creed III is by far the most fresh approach to the series in a long time. Even more so than the core game, the upcoming DLC The Tyranny of King Washington and its historical re-imagining of the post-Revolutionary War America has me captivated. Say what you will about the campaign, Battlefield 3 remains one of the most visually stunning experiences in gaming, maybe the most visually stunning. Seriously, this game mirrors life in a cinematic way that will convince you that you're either in the experience or watching live footage of it. Naturally, this is only true if you've got a rockin' PC, but it's totally makes it worth it for the cinematic overkill alone (even if you have to use Origin).

Chivalry may be dead, but Chivalry: Medieval Warfare lives. I'm in love with this game and thanks to a recent patch it's gotten a lot of its buggy weirdness worked out. If you're not willing to spend a couple bucks getting one of last year's most delightful indie games, then you can go and try it for free thanks to a rather giving weekend on Steam.

Alright, I'm breaking my own rules with this one - I vowed never to avoid non-discount deals, pre-orders, and special bonus offers - but it's BioShock Infinite and it's reading, so I have to give it a mention. Amazon's offering all pre-orders of BioShock Infinite a free copy of the Kindle Single, BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt for your reading pleasure. The book's normally only $3, but considering it's the best deal online right now and it includes the Industrial Revolution DLC for free, you might as well pre-order there if you're the type of dolt to pre-order digitally distributed games.

When it comes to publishers I often have a hard time faulting Square Enix as of late. Sure, they may be pissing a few people off with their iOS releases, but for the most part their library is exceptionally solid. Long-shot titles like Sleeping Dogs, successful reboots like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and worthwhile series like Hitman all deserve to be played and you can grab a whopping 20 game collection for only $80 this weekend on Steam.
