In a freak accident, a woman was hit by a buzzsaw that broke from its machine and came crashing down onto a Manhattan street yesterday morning.

NBC New York reports that a construction company was in the process of tearing through a city street to access a water main when the three-foot blade went airborne, landing on the street below. "It was huge," witness Sean Kuilan told NBC New York, adding that the scene was reminiscent of "a horror flick."

According to NBC New York, the blade traveled some 100 feet before striking a tree, then the woman's leg. Kulian said the force of the impact took the woman to the ground, where she began screaming from the pain and shock.

She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital after sustaining a gash to her leg.
