College Student Confesses to Killing Mother During Argument Over Grades

Police in Alabama say a college student murdered his mother last week as they argued over his grades.

CNN reports that police were summoned to a Mentone, Ala. home on Friday afternoon after Tyler Ryan Blansit placed a 911 call. Upon arrival, they found his mother, 45-year-old Sherry Ann Blansit, dead of blunt force trauma in the home's back yard. Jimmy Harris, the sheriff of Dekalb County, told CNN that the 22-year-old University of Alabama student admitted to striking his mother with a baseball bat following a dispute over his grades.

Blansit, who's currently being held at the DeKalb County Detention Center, was charged with murder.
