Maryland native Chris Whong first visited New York City in 2007, then relocated in 2011 for grad school, but he never forgot his love for D.C.'sMetro map. This love inspired Whong to repurpose the New York City subway as the D.C. Metro Map.
He explained his project to Gothamist:
Whong said he simplified the New York City subway, D.C.-style, because he wanted to apply the aesthetically-pleasing method to NYC's transit system. Bless him for that.
