Yesterday, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office revealed the details of "Operation Swill." Earlier this week, it was revealed that 29 bars had swindled customers by filling premium liquor bottles with rubbing alcohol and dirty water. The Alcohol Beverage Council reportedly snatched around 1,000 bottles as evidence, many of which will be subject to testing.
Undercover investigators from ABC secured samples of the alleged premium liquor; some of the establishments were targeted because of previous complaints, some were selected randomly. Below is the swindler's list:
Vodka: Finlandia, Smirnoff, Absolut, Grey Goose, Ketel One
According to Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa, the bars would grab whatever was conveniently available and pour it into the bottles. Why would anyone think it was wise to pour rubbing alcohol in a Ketel One bottle? Did they really think they'd get away with that? You can hustle for a living, but when you cheat your customers—and risk their health—karma will come for you.
It's right on schedule.
