Is This What Georgia's New Gun Law Will Bring?

Everyone wants to be a hero.

If you weren't aware, the Georgia Safe Carry Protection Act went into effect yesterday, and was christened by a misunderstanding that ended in an arrest.

The Valdosta Daily Times reports that police in Valdosta, Ga. were summoned to an Enmark yesterday afternoon after fielding a call about a confrontation between two customers. Apparently, a customer with a holstered weapon was accosted by another, also with a holstered weapon, who demanded to see his his identification and license to carry it:

The customer making demands for ID pulled his firearm from its holster but never pointed it at the other customer, who said he was not obligated to show any permits or identification.

Police arrested the aggressor, 62-year-old Ronald Williams, for disorderly conduct. Is this—people feeling entitled to taking the law into their own hands—the future? Love the Second Amendment all you want, but don't be overzealous about it.
