The leader of the Ferguson Police Department has ended speculation that he resigned from his position in the wake of Michael Brown's death. Brown, 18, was shot and killed by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9.
CNN reported that Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson planned to leave his post within the next week or so. However, Mayor James Knowles denied this, telling CNN "We've stood by him this entire time. So there is no change on that."
According to the New York Daily News, Jackson offered clarity on the situation last night via Twitter:
Ferguson Chief says he has not resigned, He has not been told to resign. He has not been fired. If he leaves, it will be his choice alone.
