A convicted murderer died in Oklahoma yesterday evening after suffering a heart attack when his execution went wrong.
Clayton Lockett (left) and fellow convicted murdered, Charles Warner (right), were slated for execution after both lost an appeal that would've made the state reveal the specific drugs used in its new lethal injection. Lockett, who assaulted, raped and shot a 19-year-old woman after kidnapping her, was scheduled to be executed at 6:23 p.m. However, things went horribly awry:
According to the New York Times, Lockett exclaimed "oh, man" and "something's wrong," and doctors were forced to pull the curtain when he tried to get up from the table. He eventually died of a heart attack at 7:06 p.m.
Warner, convicted of raping and killing an 11-month-old child, was scheduled to be executed at 8 p.m. As a result, his execution has been stayed for at least 14 days. Last night, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallon that the state's execution process undergo a "full review."
