When cocaine was found in the possession of a 4-year-old boy at his upstate New York school this week, it inadvertently triggered the discovery of more incriminating items at his father's home.
The New York Daily News reports that a nurse at West Street Elementary School found 12 grams of cocaine inside of the boy's winter hat on Monday. Later that evening, police with a search warrant found a plethora of drugs, guns, and cash at the Geneva, N.Y. home of the boy's father, Willie Smallwood:
Police found four pounds of marijuana, 12 long guns, two automatic rifles, five handguns, a stun gun, a felony amount of cocaine and more than $10,000 cash in Smallwood’s home. The guns were all in a safe, the Daily Messenger reported.
Smallwood, who was at home during the search, had his pistol permit revoked after his arrest.
The 25-year-old Smallwood was arrested on charges of third-degree possession of a controlled substance. Other assorted felony charges are pending. The boy's mother—who, according to the Daily News, also lives at the home—will not face charges.
