Over a dozen people were injured after gunfire erupted inside of a Miami nightclub early this morning.

The Associated Press reports that emergency responders were summoned to The Spot around 1 a.m., arriving to discover a large crowd and "chaos." A total of 15 people were injured, including some whose injuries prevented them from leaving the club. According to the Associated Press, at least one of the victims was in critical condition, and five girls between the ages of 11 and 17 were shot as well.

Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll told the Associated Press that what motivated the shooting is still unclear, as were the exact number of shooters. Carroll added that it's "disturbing" that violence of this nature happened at a club where several minors were in attendance.

Frederica Burden, spokesperson for the Miami Police Department, told the Associated Press that the investigation is ongoing, as police are going from "hospital to hospital" interviewing witnesses.
