In Total Recall, opening today, Kate Beckinsale plays Lori Quaid, a character portrayed by Sharon Stone in director Paul Verhoeven's original take 22 years ago. That right there is a hell of a vote of confidence. In 1990, Stone was at the height of her sexpot days.
