/Film has learned some new yet minor details about the upcoming Disney+ TV series based on the 1990s franchise The Mighty Ducks.

"After getting kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team, a 13-year-old boy and his mom decide to start their own team, finding players, a coach, and a place to play," the summary reads. Shooting will begin on February 10, 2020 in Vancouver and conclude on June 1.

The logline doesn't even hint at an element in the plot of the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks starring Emilio Estevez as Gordon Bombay, a lawyer who is forced to coach a lovable, ragtag hockey team for community service following an arrest for drunk driving.

There's still a chance that through lines connecting the show to the movie could ultimately exist since original trilogy screenwriter Steven Brill and producer Jordan Kerner have been connected to the series.

It's uncertain if this show should even be definitively considered a reboot, sequel or something else. Now, those who grew up on and loved The Mighty Ducks franchise are cautious about the direction that this new series will take.
