Kristy Swanson, who is known for playing the titular character in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer, revealed Monday that she was hospitalized with COVID-related pneumonia, and required oxygen.

Thank you all for the prayers it truly means a lot to me. I can feel it 🤗. Just little more clarification & update, I was just at the tail end of my Covid diagnosis when it jumped into my lungs. So they are treating me with Baricitinib & blood thinners so I don’t clot. I’m ok.

The FDA authorized the use of the drug baricitinib, along with remdesivir, for emergency purposes when an adult is hospitalized with COVID and using supplemental oxygen. The combination has been proven to reduce recovery time within 29 days. Data from the CDC shows that people who aren’t fully vaccinated are 10 times more likely to wind up in the hospital due to COVID, and 10 times more likely to die from complications.

In recent years, Swanson has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, echoing his misinformation about the virus and vaccine. In September, she compared COVID to a new strain of the flu that comes out every year, and claimed vaccine mandates were a money-making scheme.

Oh I see, so it behaves just like the flu. Every year a new flew strain arises & a new vaccine comes out for it, if you want to get one. That’s exactly what this whole thing is, except this time they want to mandate vaccines so they can make mo-money 🤑🙄https://t.co/PkrkNLH00r

Still, Swanson doesn’t consider herself to be anti-vax. It’s unclear if she was vaccinated prior to her infection.
