It took police from China's Shandong province over 40 minutes to rescue what they believed to be a woman drowning in a local river. To add insult to injury, what they had actually saved was a discarded sex toy.

It might not have been so bad, had a crowd of nearly 1000 people not gathered around the scene. The police eventually owned up to their gaffe, showing the crowd the deflated toy, much to the dismay of parents present with young children.

The 45 minutes of CPR probably wasn't necessary, though.
