Rapman, the man behind majorly succesful film Blue Story and online smash Shiro's Story, has cemented himself as a name to know in the film industry, both in the UK and now globally. The realism and relatable nature of Rapman's ideas have managed to get him noticed by the likes of Jay Z who, in 2018, signed him to Roc Nation.

Now, as his success has continues to grow, it's been reported that South East London's Rapman has been approached by Paramount to direct new blockbuster flick American Son, based on the Oscar-nominated French picture, A Prophet.

A Prophet follows the story of a young muslim man who finds himself struggling to find his way within a French prison. Originally released in 2009, the French movie includes many different societal issues surrounding race and religion, emphatic topics in which Rapman has tended to approach sensitively and flawlessly in his previous projects.

With American Son being filmed in a major studio, a first for Rapman, it would see the director create a progressive crime saga for a new generation. The film centres around a man who falls under control of a wild mobster while in prison, who then goes on to form a multiracial crime syndicate to take down his mentor.

This new gig for Rapman will be a huge stepping stone to the next level of success. American Son is being dubbed as a "major priority" for Paramount as it enters its casting process.
