The Wire continues to make news today, even without relating to the Baltimore protests. Wendell Pierce, known best for playing William "Bunk" Moreland, will return to HBO to play Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in Confirmation. He'll star in the upcoming film with Kerry Washington, who's already been cast as Anita Hill.
The movie will focus on Thomas' controversial nomination to the Supreme Court in 1991. Hill, a former coworker of his, testified about numerous unwanted advances from Thomas. He allegedly spoke graphically about porn and his sexual prowess. But Hill declined to describe the behavior as sexual harassment, which it would obviously be described as today.
No release date for Confirmation has been set, and production is expected to begin this summer.
