Nearly two years after being convicted of murderJodi Arias' sentencing trial has once again resulted in a hung jury. Her original sentencing in May 2013 was also declared a mistrial. Under Arizona state law she cannot be tried again and will automatically receive a life sentence. The judge will decide if she'll get natural life, meaning no possible release, or eligibility for parole in 25 years.

Arias was found guilty on May 8, 2013 of killing her boyfriend Travis Alexander nearly five years prior. Friends discovered his body in the shower with multiple stab wounds, a slit throat, and a gunshot to the head.

Arias' live-streamed trial gained national attention for the explicit details she gave the jury about her sexual relationship with Alexander. Her defense claimed she acted in self-defense and had been suffering post traumatic stress disorder.

The jury convicted Arias of first-degree murder after 15 hours of deliberation. Her original sentencing phase was declared a mistrial weeks later because a jury couldn't decide on the death penalty. Lawyers began questioning potential jurors for a retrial in October 2014.
